Since we founded it in 2020, the Yatao Shop has been much more than just a place to buy a handpan – it’s been a heartfelt project that we built together as friends and family. From the beginning, we had one clear goal: to make handpans accessible to as many people as possible. What once seemed nearly impossible has become a reality through our shop. Our vision is to share the joy and beauty of handpan music with as many people as we can, making it easier for everyone to access this wonderful instrument.
We aim to create a space where the calming, meditative sounds of the handpan can reach everyone. We deeply believe that this instrument has a unique ability to bring peace and harmony, not only to the player but also to everyone who listens.
More and more people feel drawn to learn how to play this beautiful instrument, and the best part? It’s surprisingly easy to learn.
The world that opens up to most people when the handpan enters their lives is enriching on so many levels. I’ll always remember one participant in a workshop who told me how much she feared playing instruments because of negative experiences in school. After just a few minutes with the handpan, she began creating beautiful, harmonious sounds. The joy and amazement on her face were unforgettable. At the end of the workshop, she said, “I never thought I could create something so beautiful.”
