It is based on D minor, can also be played in F major, and offers a balance of moods that ranges from deeply meditative to lively and energetic. Sound and Build
The YataoPan D Kurd 11 Ember is crafted from Ember Steel. Ember Steel handpans are known for their warm, rich tone and longer sustain, making them especially well-suited for melodic and meditative playing. They are also highly rust-resistant and they require less maintenance compared to stainless steel handpans.
The natural surface coloring of Ember Steel may shift and deepen over time, gaining a vintage character that is entirely its own. This change in appearance does not affect the sound or tuning of the instrument in any way.
The D Kurd scale itself is deeply versatile: its six complete triads allow for a wide range of composing and improvising possibilities, and the central D ding contributes warmth and resonance to the overall sound. The 11-note configuration adds an additional D5, giving the instrument extra melodic possibilities while staying fully accessible.

Additional Notes!
- Though the patina may fade or change over time, this doesn’t impact the sound or tuning of the instrument.
- To prevent discolouration of any kind, it is necessary to clean the handpan after each use. Salt and water react with the surface and cause discolouration.
- Store your Handpan in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area and not inside your bag!

Don't worry, we are used to pack and ship handpans, also overseas! To ensure even more protection each handpan is sold with our Yatao softbag. You can also choose to upgrade to our Namana soft- and harcases, but this is not required for the shipment. Please be aware that shipment to a destination outside of Europe will require customs registration and thus may take a longer time period.
We ship with DHL and insure each package with at least 2500,-€.
