The Aegean scale is built on an extended D Lydian structure - major in mood, but more open and subtle than a standard major scale. It is a scale that invites melodic exploration without demanding it - every combination of notes sounds naturally coherent, and even simple phrases carry a sense of space and intention that is immediately satisfying.

The 13-note layout keeps the playing experience focused and intuitive. The top side covers the full Aegean melodic range, while the three bottom notes - B2, E3, and G#3 - add a genuine bass foundation that transforms the character of the instrument entirely. Sound and Build

The YataoPan D Aegean 13 is crafted from stainless steel, chosen for its clean, precise tone and long-term tuning stability. Stainless steel delivers a bright, clear fundamental with well-defined overtones and reliable sustain - an ideal material for a scale like the Aegean, where the open, floating character of each note benefits from a clear and responsive surface.

The deep B2 is the defining feature of this instrument. Sitting well below the lowest top note, it delivers a bass resonance that is felt as much as heard. As a result it grounds the instrument's airy upper tones with a warmth and depth that makes every playing session feel complete. 

Every YataoPan is personally played and checked before it leaves us. Instruments that don't pass are reworked on-site - including retuning, resealing, and quality corrections. If it doesn't sound right, it doesn't ship.

• The visual appearance may differ slightly from the example image, as each YataoPan is individually handcrafted.
• Stainless steel surface finish may show minor natural variations - this does not affect sound or tuning.
• To maintain the surface, clean the handpan after each use and store it in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area - not inside the bag.
